I have had a few (including a Yamaha) and lived to regret it. For me, the Yamaha looked good, the sound was nice (in the beginning) and it was inexpensive. Later on, I had trouble keeping it in tune, the deck started to lift and the frets were not level. Any guitar should be adjusted (from new) by a professional - fretts worked, bridge set, nut set, etc.. Save your money and buy a good quality guitar. That way you will only have to spend your money once. It took me a long time to figure that out. If you buy cheap, sooner than later the sound will get to be something you won't like. It is really hard to learn and enjoy playing with a guitar that sounds like crap. You can spend a lot of money on a guitar, but $600.00 and up will get you something decent that will last a long time and give you hours of fun. I own an Ovation and have had it for about 7 years. It still sounds as good as it did new. If you have a birthday coming up, ask for money so you can get something good. It comes with a passably nice hardshell case. If a guitar is worth having, it is worth protecting. Cost is approximately $199.00 depending on you dealer. It is available in more than one finish/color. You will be surprised at how good it sounds, much better than the Epiphone. And I don't think Yamahas stand up to the test of time.
